Beacon Open Studios (BOS) is a city-wide art event, connecting local artists and their studios to the public. BOS allows you an up-close look at what artists do behind closed doors. Visitors and art
enthusiasts have total viewing access to workspaces where artists display past, current and artworks in progress. BOS aspires to bring visitors from the surrounding areas to create a stronger sense of awareness of Beacon as
an art destination.
For the month of September leading up to the event weekend, you'll have a chance to see one piece of art work from every participant in our upstairs gallery. Stop by and take a look at whose studio you may want to visit.

Absinthe Tasting
September 17, 2010, 6:30–8:30PM
Hudson Beach Glass Philadelphia, 26 S. Strawberry St., Philadelphia, PA
We are very excited to be working with Philadelphia Distillery on a totally original Absinthe Tasting. When I think of Absinthe I think of impressionist painters in Paris at the turn of the century sipping it in cafés. But Philadelphia Distillery's Vieux Carré Absinthe Supérieure Absinthe pays tribute to the unique and colorful history of Absinthe in New Orleans.
Vieux Carré Absinthe's flavor and color (a bright green) are derived exclusively from 100% natural herbs including the "holy trinity" of authentic absinthe: Grande Wormwood, Fennel and & Green Anise. We will be tasting this gorgeous spirit two ways, including the "Classic" where ice cold water is slowly dripped through a sugar cube placed on the edge of the glass. The cold water causes Vieux Carré to louche into an opalescent cloud as the herbal essences and essential oils emerge from the Absinthe.
You'll be using our rocks glasses to taste the cocktails. Hand-made in our Strawberry Street studio our rocks glasses are the perfect cup for elegant, strong, cocktails. . While cocktails are being poured in the gallery, Sean Gilvey, the co-owner of HBG Philly, will be in the hot shop showing you how he makes the rocks glasses. With their "European" capacity and unique shimmer the rocks glasses are a beautiful and classic cup that everyone should have in their bar. At the end of the evening everyone gets to take home a glass all their own.
Tickets cost $36 and include a glass to take home (a $36 value). Additional glasses will be on sale through out the evening.
Tickets are limited and are available
