Instructor for Glass Bead Making
I studied art in college and began taking as many classes as I could in jewelry making. Eventually I began making pins and earrings in a collage effect using paper, plastic, glass, fabric, and just about anything else that appealed to me. In 1994, I took a weekend workshop in
lampworked beads with Kate Fowle (now Kate Fowle Meleney). By the end of the workshop I was hooked, and have been making beads ever since. The flowers I now make have been evolving over the last two years. I have been showing my work at the Artrider Craft shows at the Park Avenue Armory,
in New York City.
Introduction to Glass/Paperweight Workshop:
Instructor: Kathleen Andersen
Hudson Beach Glass, First Floor, 162 Main St., Beacon, NY 12508
Always wanted to try glass but never had the opportunity? This is the class for you. Come and experience the fun of working with glass and making your very own paperweight. In this class you will work one-on-one with our instructor who will guide you through the steps of making a beautiful one of a kind paperweight, all the while giving you information about the material, process and tools. Come into our shop and experience the heat and thrills of glass making while in a safe and comfortable environment. Due to the physical demands of glass working, this class is offered only to ages 16 and up. While this class is taught one-on-one, we can accommodate small groups.
Classes offered Thursdays through Saturdays. No experience needed, all Materials included.
Important: Paperweights made in the workshop must go through an overnight annealing (slow cooling) process and will not be available for same-day pick-up and must either be picked up two days after the class or shipped for an additional fee.
Plan to arrive at the studio 10 minutes before your appointment. Classes are scheduled for 1 hour.

Instructor for Glassblowing Class
"I graduated in 2008 with a BFA from Alfred University, with a Concentration in Glass and Painting. My love for teaching comes from the basic joy of sharing something I love with others. Being present to see the surprise and wonder on a student's face the first time they work
with the glass, to seeing the satisfaction and joy that is present when they finish a piece, is what makes teaching glass so amazing, and fun."
